Free food distributions for affected workers

The Capital Area Food Bank is committed to providing food for our neighbors in need, throughout the year and in unexpected moments of economic hardship.

To support former federal employees and contractors and those affected by recent reductions in federal funding and jobs, the food bank is holding pop-up food distributions twice a week through June. These new food distributions will offer boxes of shelf-stable pantry items and fresh produce.

To receive food, visitors just need to answer some basic questions via a brief verbal questionnaire. They will not be asked for their names or other personal identifying information.

UPDATE: Beginning on Saturday, May 31st, these pop-up food distributions will be operating on a new schedule and set of locations in order to best reach affected workers. Distributions will occur once a week — Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — at the parking lots of the following retail locations:

DC

Maryland

Virginia

*Locations subject to change. There will be no distributions on Saturday, May 24th

Supporting our community, whatever the circumstances, is at the core of CAFB’s mission. Along with our network of more than 400 partner organizations, we are prepared to help meet the needs of our neighbors.

Anyone in need of food assistance can find the times and locations of additional food distributions among our partner network by visiting our Get Help page. If you have any questions about food assistance or these distributions, please call our Hunger Lifeline at (202) 644-9807.
