The Capital Area Food Bank continues to serve our neighbors in need during these uncertain times.
To account for site closures and social distancing needs related to COVID-19, particularly during the spread of the Omicron variant, we have modified and consolidated our services, offering food in different formats and locations.

Service Modifications:
Consolidated Partner Network
During ordinary operations, the food bank distributes most of its food through a network of 450+ regional nonprofit partner organizations. This partner network continues to be essential in this time. However, service at some of our partners is currently suspended. Please check the map further down this page for the most up to date information on our partners that are currently open.
Consolidated Service to Direct Distribution Programs
In addition to food distributed through its partner network, the food bank normally operates a variety of programs that provide food directly to children, families, seniors, and other individuals in need. The food bank has modified and consolidated its service through those programs, providing food in the following ways:
After School Meals: The food bank’s after school meals program is continuing at all site locations that plan to remain open during this time. The hot meal normally eaten on site has been replaced with a cold “to-go” meal that children can pick up and eat at home.
Senior Programs: The food bank is continuing its monthly distribution of supplemental bagged/boxed shelf stable groceries to seniors through all Grocery Plus and My Groceries to Go locations (both part of the Commodity Supplemental Food Program) and Senior Brown Bag locations that are open at this time.
Community Marketplaces: The food bank is once again operating its Community Marketplaces in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. These program locations – which normally operate as no-cost farmer’s markets – offer pre-packed produce boxes or bags for any resident in need of food assistance.
