I hope you got a chance to read Susan Topping’s post on local farms and our impact on environmental and social sustainability. While food distribution is a great deal of what we do, we also provide nutrition education to low-income families. We need assistance, however, to continue our education outreach and maintain our food resources.
As recently reported in the Washington Post, corporate giving is down for many nonprofits in the Washington metro region. Though we are not in any danger, we are seeking alternative sources of funding. This has led us down a path to explore more opportunities through the web. When we learned of the United Way’s Give to the Max Day, we quickly signed up thinking this is a fun way to generate revenue while also giving local organizations exposure.
If you aren’t familiar, Give to the Max Day is a massive one-day regional online fundraiser, supported by Razoo’s fundraising platform. It begins and ends today with a goal of uniting metro area communities to support local nonprofits. We invite you to participate in Give to the Max Day. And while we would welcome a donation to the food bank, please check out and support the other great organizations participating. Thanks in advance!
