On Saturday, June 8, the Capital Area Food Bank took part in the 38th annual Capital Pride parade, D.C.’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) awareness event. The food bank’s contingent of over 30 people, including staff plus their friends, family and loved ones, donned matching t-shirts and rainbow-themed attire and marched the parade route, along with hundreds of other organizations, bearing witness to the organization’s commitment to basic human rights.
This was the food bank’s first time participating in Capital Pride, and from the uplifting reactions from the droves of parade spectators that we reached we know that this won’t be our last! Our team of marchers felt uplifted by the festivities, knowing that they helped show the food bank’s outspoken support for equality and social justice.
