For her long-time commitment to serving those in need and involvement in hunger related issues, CAFB President and CEO Lynn Brantley was recently honored with the “Spirit of Father McKenna Award.” The Father McKenna Center, also a food bank partner agency, presented Brantley with the distinction at its annual luncheon marking the 30th anniversary of Father Horace B. McKenna’s passing.
This is the first time that the “Spirit of Father McKenna Award” has formally been presented to an individual. In the past, students were recognized for their outstanding work at the McKenna Center but Director Tom Howarth suggested Brantley be awarded for her 32 years of faith-based service to the hungry.
The Father McKenna Center offers a variety of services to the poor and homeless and has served the Washington metro region for over 30 years.
