This week across the country, individuals and organizations will celebrate Food Day, a nationwide commemoration and movement for healthy, affordable and sustainably produced food. Created by the Center For Science in the Public Interest, the goal of Food Day is to bring people together who work on a variety of food issues such as hunger, policy and nutrition.
In the spirit of Food Day, the CAFB will hold a special event in the new Mildred J. Brooks Learning Center, which will include a cooking demonstration led by CSPI’s Kate Sherwood also known as The Healthy Cook, as well as a special announcement from President and CEO Lynn Brantley.
The food bank’s new food distribution center will help bring more healthy food to residents and provide educational opportunities to help them stretch their food budgets.
Food Day serves as a call to action, for individuals and organizations to celebrate food connections and look for ways to make improvements. On Food Day, the CAFB celebrates its continued efforts in providing access to nutritious food.
