2020 marked the food bank’s 40th anniversary, for which we had planned a year of commemorations to mark the milestone. What happened instead, no one could have foreseen.
But while the pandemic turned life upside down for all of us it also showed the power of our community and renewed our deep commitment to the food bank’s most central purpose: ensuring our neighbors have the good food they need.
These are just a few of the things our incredible community of supporters made possible in 2020:
- Providing 52.4 million meals – an average of 1 million meals per week
- Distributing 285,820 emergency boxes since March, each containing enough food to provide a family of 4 with meals for 5 days
- Purchasing of 771 truckloads of food – more than 26x the amount purchased in all of 2019
