Summer can mean food insecurity for lots of kids in our region. When school lunch programs end for the year, the Mobile Food Program brings meals on the road to help reach children in need.
Bringing food to kids where they live
When school ends for the year, so do reliable meals for many children in our community. And while recreation centers, churches, and other locations might provide free meals over the summer, kids without a way to get there are left hungry.
Launched in 2015, the Mobile Food Program exists to solve that problem by bringing good, healthy meals directly to the neighborhoods of kids that need them. Our converted school bus delivers fresh lunches to approximately 700 children each week during the summer months in Fairfax County, Virginia.
